Why Documentary Family Photography? (Because you don't like having family portraits taken).

RETHINKING THE FAMILY PORTRAIT

Don’t get me wrong. I love a good environmental portrait. In fact, they’ve served me well over the years shooting for magazines, organizations and corporations and even families. Yes, families just like the one below!

Standing stiffly with your family, staring at the camera doesn’t work for you? Have you EVER even made the time to have a family portrait? If it’s been a while or you cringe at the idea of having a family photo taken (like I do) there is a different approach to family photography that is REALLY your family's story.

DOCUMENTARY FAMILY PHOTOGRAPHY IS  a real way of remembering who you are as a family- no judgement, just truth!

Jennifer's husband was reluctant to get in the photo like so many of us are, so he shows up in a way that feels natural to him.

DOCUMENTARY FAMILY PHOTOGRAPHY is chance for you or your other half, the“family photographer” to get in the photos with the rest of the family. Think photographs that show how they're always cooking in the kitchen or how your offspring is springing off the bed even if you told him a zillion times not to?

It's not only what you are doing as a family but how you relate to one another. I'll show you that and you can hold that memory in your hands as a book of photographs or photos on your wall that feel true to who you really are as a family.

Jennifer's daughter wasn't feeling well so instead of canceling the shoot we went with it. It was a rainy Sunday morning and they stayed in their jammies and cuddled in front of the TV.

WHAT'S YOUR FAMILY'S STORY? What are your Sunday's like? Let's tell your story!
